Fans and loved ones are still reeling from the recent loss of "Glee" star Cory Monteith, who died in July from a drug overdose. This look at his role in one of the last movies he completed before his untimely passing, "McCanick," might not help the grieving process.
A new photo from the movie shows the actor's transformation into a hustler and addict who's recently been released from prison. Director Josh C. Waller told Entertainment Weekly that the actor glimpsed "things from his youth" in his character, Simon Weeks, and that, in Waller's opinion, "[Monteith] saw the role as an opportunity for catharsis."
"McCanick" is premiering next month at the Toronto International Film Festival, along with the other movie Monteith had recently completed, "All the Wrong Reasons." That role required a different sort of transformation; Monteith played a manager at an unnamed superstore whose marriage is falling apart.
Lea Michele, Monteith's "Glee" co-star and girlfriend, dedicated her Teen Choice Award to the late actor on Sunday. "He was very special to me and also to the world, and we were very lucky to witness his incredible talent, his handsome smile, and his beautiful, beautiful heart. So whether you knew him personally or as Finn, he reached out and became a part of all of our hearts. So thank you guys so much."
